Our strategy is to build a globally diversified portfolio of primary funds, co-investments and secondaries alongside best-in-class fund managers.

Established in 2000, our private equity team has committed +$15 billion to over 550 investments across more than 185 private equity managers in North America, Europe and Asia. We currently manage over $7 billion of assets (31 December 2025).

Private equity strategy

  • Our evergreen strategy was launched on 30 September 2023 and now exceeds $5.41bn in size (as of 31 March 2026). The strategy offers investors access to an established and diversified private equity portfolio across North America, Europe and Asia-Pacific.
  • The strategy aims to achieve an attractive total return over the medium to long term through investments in primary funds, co-investments and secondaries, predominantly focused on buyout strategies, and complemented by growth equity and venture capital.
  • Seeded by M&G Asset Owner – a stable, long-term investor with deep insurance heritage – the strategy can benefit from a well-aligned, patient capital base.
  • Backed by our private equity teams scale and expertise in this area, the strategy regularly secures LP Advisory Committee seats to enhance governance and alignment. 
  • The strategy integrates ESG considerations into decision making for its investments.

Closed ended funds or separately managed accounts (SMAs)

  • Our private equity team has been investing from closed ended funds since 2000, including dedicated thematic funds (e.g. Impact). Leveraging the resources of M&G plc, we are able to construct competitive, flexible solutions for clients.
